Rockingham Rounds 7 and 8 Not getting any easier for Team Roddison’s but decent results, Qualifying was on the Saturday afternoon after a free practice in the morning, it was cool and dry – sadly we could not get a pole, Jon Halliwell was on form, we managed 3rd and row two for race 1, just 0.5 seconds covered the first four cars, it really shows how everyone coming up through the ranks are improving. . Race1: Jon Halliwell was away at the start, the conditions were tricky, damp, wet and slippery, we managed to take the lead by lap two, but Andy Baylie got by on lap three, a sideways moment by applying the power a little too soon allowed Simon Fleet to take the lead to the end of the race, decent points from a 3rd place will help the long term points tally at the end of the season. Race 2: This race was always going to be tough, but the conditions were dryer and lap times quicker as a result, Jon Halliwell starting from fourth on the grid got a flyer, we slipped in to second by about lap three, as Halliwell pushed harder his tyres must have been giving way because it allowed us to take first on lap 7, but we could not hold off the ever improving Simon Fleet, who took the lead to the end by 0.6 seconds, an excellent race and a good 49 points from the second place. Puts us on the top of the Championship table for the time being – Next race – Anglesey 11th July. Well done to Simon Fleet on his First place Trophies.
